SIXTIES STYLE DRESS

MAKING MAGAZINE

Bought this magazine today it is one of the better craft/make magazines this month it has a free pattern for a 60's style dress making your own can be a good way to get that vintage look if like myself you are not the slimmest of people, especially if you make them in vintage fabric

It has been a while since I have made any clothes in the past I used to make at least 50% of what I wore but for years it has been just bags cushion covers blinds etc. etc. think I might just have a little go , trawling etsy found these three examples all would make really cool examples of this dress some coloured tights and and cardie all sorted for Autumn

There is also this biker boy hat pattern I have never made a hat before it would be a good way to use up odds and sods of fabrics

It is not a cheap magazine but a good read , good articles about makers

NICE BLOG

I have a long list of blogs I read but it is nice to come across one you have not read before this is a lovely blog, and a Manchester girl, pop over and have a read

we appear to be about to have fruit cocktails and look sugared almonds in nets

VINTAGE WEDDING PHOTOS

Wedding days

My parents did not have any wedding photos, nor my grandparents, my grandparents understandable it was just after the 1st World War, my parents well that was a another story so I am fascinated by old photos of weddings a lot of the time the dresses even the flowers and shoes were borrowed

I don't know if the bridesmaids were coloured in after [a common practice]
or if they were really all that colour it looks like a split screen and the chaps look so Stern

Wow what a lot of bridesmaids and groomsmen !

[sorry I don't know the orgins of the photos I have had them filed for while]

UP CYCLED FURNITURE

We are making room for some furniture for a friend in our lock up and I have to set about doing something with the bits of retro furniture I have collected because we can't move and are running out of space, just been browsing folksy for some creative inspiration to get started and found these

This is nice

http://www.folksy.com/items/2044929-Sideboard

A granny glass display cupboard, I love the french grey colours of these two pieces I am not a lover of too much shabby chic which this colour reminds me of, I like shabby chic if mixed in with contemporary pieces or good classic mid century modern just my opinion, these two would fit into nicely I think to a modern or country setting
